About Me
My name is Steven Burrowes and I am a registered MBACP counsellor based in Ladbroke Grove, Kensington and Chelsea, Central London. I have 13 years of experience working with a wide variety of clients from very diverse backgrounds, specialising in Anger Management and their effects.
I began my professional life working with excluded 14-16 year old teenagers with addictions, gang affiliations and all that accompanies that life style. Working for 12 years first hand in a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) with these teenagers showed me the importance and eventful impact of the Parent/Adult/Child development which is the basis for my integrative (Person Centred and Psychodynamic) counselling approach. The PRU was an invaluable setting for working with a diverse and often hard to reach client group and their families.
Presently I do sessional counselling support for the CATCH-22 charity working in mainstream secondary education counselling students onsite and in their community. Here I work on a short term solution-focused basis of 6 sessions supporting students through whatever disturbance is present in their here and now.
For the past four years I have also worked for the EVERYMAN PROJECT supporting the perpetrators of Domestic Violence. I work on a 1-2-1 face to face basis for 13 weeks with my clients and encourage them to further their awareness by also attending our 13 week group sessions after. The approach I use with this client group is integrative of Intensive Psychotherapy exploring their past experiences which are repeating in their present and Humanistic to help improve an individual’s self-image, self-actualisation and all things that make them feel worthwhile.
If you are looking for a safe confidential space where you can speak and be supported by a trained professional on a weekly basis, why not contact me to arrange an assessment.
